I'll be keeping an eye out for those next time I'm in those missions too. I didn't know about the ones in Galaxy though, then again, I've never seen them there. I decided to check it out just now, and they appear much quicker if you stand like Luigi is at the fence staring into the forest. I've seen those faces before, but I thought they were just bits of shadowed fog or something a little less un-nerving then that. I'm sorry, but if I had realized this before while playing 3D Land before, I wold have stopped playing. Here's a video which shows the alternate ending. Also, in the whole level you can't touch the princess, but with the stars the level is changed so you can touch her, and, if you do so, she'll start flashing and then will blow. In the last level it seems that you are helping the princess to escape from a bad guy, but after you discover that the princess is escaping from you. But if you go to the last level, there is a slighty difference. What could happen if you get these stars? Nothing, at first. They are also really difficult (or time wasting) to get, for example one star require to wait in a screen for 2 hours. In the game there are 7 hidden stars (there are 8 stars indeed, but the last is in the final level and need to unlock the alternate ending to get it read more under) and the game doesn't give you any knowledge about them, so it is even possible to complete the game without knowing they exist. It has a bad ending, tough, as this princess won't be happy to see Tim. Braid is a game which is Mario-style and the protagonist is called Tim, a dude who can reverse time and uses his powers to find a missing princess. I remember a thing I read about some creepy games fact. Nintendo has not revealed what these strange figures are, but similar figures can be seen near the flagpole if the player waits long enough in Super Mario 3D Land." Chopping down a tree that houses a Kodama is said to bring bad luck. The figures resemble a Kodama, a spirit from Japanese folklore said to live in certain trees on the inner reaches of the mountains. The cliffs are pre-rendered, making it impossible to get closer to them. They cannot be reached by hacking if Mario attempts to use a flying cheat and go to them, he will lose a life. The three figures also appear in Grandmaster Galaxy in the Pull Star Planet. The texture for these creatures is known as "HellValleySkyTree", associated with the sky model "BeyondHellValleySky". As he progress through the first mission, they seem to follow him (this happens because they are in the background). On the missions Prince Pikante's Peppery Mood and Octo-Army Icy Rainbow Romp, if the player uses first-person view and looks up at the glacier cliffs in the scenery, three figures can be seen watching Mario.
